How to Cancel Sky Sports in the UK
Whether you’ve got Sky Sports as an add-on with Sky TV/Stream/Glass, via NOW Membership, or through Virgin Media/BT/EE TV, here’s exactly how to cancel—plus key rules like notice periods and minimum terms.
Work out who bills you
Open My Sky (app or web) or check your latest bill to confirm if you pay Sky directly—or if Sky Sports is part of a bundle with NOW, Virgin Media, BT/EE TV. This determines where you cancel. For Sky accounts, use the Change/Manage your Sky TV products or “Cancel Sky TV” help paths.
2. If you pay Sky (Sky Q / Sky+ / Sky Stream / Sky Glass)
The essentials
Removing Sky Sports is a downgrade to your TV package. You must give at least 31 days’ notice and the change can’t take effect before your minimum term ends (if you’re in one).
On rolling add-ons (no fixed term), the 31-day notice still applies. If you’re in a fixed-term promo/discount, you may be unable to remove the pack until that term ends.
How to cancel with Sky
Go to My Sky → TV → Manage content packs (or Change your Sky TV products) and request removal; if online removal isn’t available, use the message or phone route shown there.
If you’re mid-contract on the core TV product and try to end the whole TV service, early termination charges can apply. Review Sky’s ETC guidance before you proceed.
Tip: Always contact Sky using the official Contacting Sky page from their site (avoid third-party “premium” numbers).
3. If you watch Sky Sports via NOW
Go to NOW → Memberships → Disney+ / Sports (your list will show Sports Membership) → Cancel membership, then follow the on-screen steps. You’ll keep access until your current period ends.
Day Memberships end automatically after 24 hours (no need to cancel). Month Memberships can be cancelled any time and end at the period end. If you took a Saver/contracted bundle, cancellation takes effect after the minimum term.
4. If Sky Sports is billed by Virgin Media
Manage add-ons in My Virgin Media → Active subscriptions → Cancel this pack (confirm to finish). Contracted bundles may restrict immediate removal; if Sky Sports was built into your bundle, you may need to change package rather than remove an add-on.
5. If Sky Sports is billed by BT / EE TV
Head to BT/EE account and change or cancel your TV package/add-ons. The route differs by plan (some add-ons are 30-day, others are tied to your TV contract). Start from BT’s “change or cancel” help.
6. Cooling-off, notice & charges — quick rules
Sky (direct): 31-day notice to remove Sky Sports. If you’re within your 14-day cooling-off for a new Sky contract, you can usually cancel under distance-selling rules; otherwise, removal can only take effect after any minimum term ends.
Ending the whole Sky TV service during a minimum term can trigger early termination charges—check Sky’s official ETC page for examples and amounts.
NOW: Day passes don’t auto-renew; month passes end at the period end after you cancel; Saver bundles need the minimum term to pass.
7. Step-by-step mini-guides
Sky (direct)
My Sky → TV → Manage (or “Change your Sky TV products”).
Choose Sky Sports → Remove (or contact via message/phone if removal isn’t offered).
Note the 31-day end date; keep confirmation.
NOW
Account → Memberships → Sports Membership → Cancel.
Confirm; access continues until end of current period.
Virgin Media
My Virgin Media → Active subscriptions → Cancel this pack → Confirm.
BT / EE TV
Start at BT’s change/cancel help and follow the route for your TV add-on.
8. Sky Stream/Glass vs Sky Q—does it matter?
Sky’s streaming contracts offer 31-day rolling add-ons or 18–24-month terms at lower prices. Rolling gives flexibility to cancel with 31 days’ notice; fixed terms are cheaper but lock you in. Check your product contract to confirm which you chose.
9. Quick checklist
I confirmed who bills me (Sky / NOW / Virgin / BT-EE).
I understand the 31-day notice rule (and any minimum term limits).
If ending Sky TV entirely, I checked early termination charges.
I cancelled in the correct place (My Sky / NOW / My Virgin Media / BT-EE).
