How to Cancel Sky TV in the UK: Sky Q/+, Sky Glass & Sky Stream

Here’s the no-nonsense path to cancel your Sky TV—what to expect on notice periods, minimum terms, cooling-off rights, and returning equipment.

1) Check your product & contract

  • Sky Q / Sky+ (satellite) or Sky Stream / Sky Glass (streaming)? Your contract type determines how and when cancellation takes effect. Sky requires at least 31 days’ notice to end TV services, and your cancellation can’t take effect before your minimum term finishes.

  • If you cancel before your minimum term ends, Early Termination Charges (ETCs) may apply. Review Sky’s official ETC guidance and examples.

  • Streaming contracts (Glass/Stream): Customers choose either a 31-day rolling option or an 18–24-month minimum term (depending on the deal). Rolling plans can be ended with 31 days’ notice; fixed-term deals follow the contract end.

2) Your cooling-off rights (new orders only)

If you’re within the cooling-off period for a new Sky TV order (e.g., first 14 days from activation/delivery), you can cancel under Sky’s cooling-off process detailed on the Help page for your product (Sky+/Q, Glass, or Stream).

3) How to cancel Sky TV (steps)

  1. Sign in to My Sky and go to the cancellation section for TV (“Cancel Sky TV”).

  2. Follow the on-screen route to request cancellation (Sky may direct you to secure messaging/phone to verify and set your end date). You’ll be told if any ETCs apply.

  3. Note your final service date (usually 31 days from when Sky accepts your request, or later if you’re still in minimum term). Keep the confirmation.

  4. Ending all Sky services at the same time? Sky’s ETC page shows how synchronized end dates work across TV/Broadband/Talk.

Email mysky@sky.uk and ask them to cancel your account.

4) Return any loaned equipment

If Sky asks you to return equipment (e.g., Sky Q box, Sky Stream puck, hubs), use the official return or recycle process to avoid unreturned-equipment charges. Keep proof of postage/tracking.

5) Quick checklist

  • I’ve confirmed my product (Q/+ vs Glass/Stream) and minimum term.

  • I’ve submitted cancellation via My Sky → Cancel Sky TV and saved the confirmation.

  • I understand the 31-day notice rule and any ETCs.

  • I’ve returned any loaned kit using Sky’s official process.
